LIAISON COURSE COMPLETED
Motta di Livenza (TV), 15 November 2019.
Today the “CIMIC Liaison Course” has been concluded at "Mario Fiore" barracks in Motta di Livenza, Headquarters of the Multinational CIMIC Group, the joint and combined Italian Army unit specialized in civil-military cooperation. The course was designed to provide former NATO CIMIC course’s students with knowledges, skills and tools needed to enhance their CIMIC Liaison capabilities with special reference to multinational and multidimensional contexts which characterize current NATO’s Theatres of Operations. The course content included CIMIC Liaison Officer’s profile, task and responsibilities, CIMIC Liaison field experiences, Cross Cultural Competences, Civilian environment assessment and Common operational picture. The students have been involved also in practical parts and role players in order to expose them to different viewpoints or ways of thinking about a situation and provide experience within a given context. The “CIMIC Liaison Course”, performed entirely in English and lasted a week, involved 27 students: 22 from Italian Army and Navy, meanwhile 8 soldiers from Dutch, Greek, Lebanese, Ukrainian and US Armed Forces.
The CIMIC operators are, at the time being, employed in crisis areas where the Italian Army is called to operate and this allows to obtain a virtuous cycle of teaching: to realize in operation what has been learned in classroom and afterwards teach in classroom the lessons identified learned in operation, in order to offer a training perfectly complying with current, changing and complex operational scenarios.
Nowadays the Multinational CIMIC Group, which includes, among the contributing nations, beyond Italy, Greece, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Hungary, represents a real pole of excellence for the training related to the operators working in the delicate sector of civil-military cooperation. To date, around 2000
students, civilians and military, both Italian and foreign, have been enrolled in MNCG courses, as evidence of high educational standards, responding to the needs of those who have to cope with the changing challenges of today's operational scenarios.
