Motta di Livenza, March 29th, 2021
On March 29, 2021, in VTC mode, an important agreement was signed between the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG), represented by its Commander, Colonel Mattia Zuzzi and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), represented by Dr. Angiolo Rolli, Director for Resources and Operations Management.
The agreement, endorsed by the Italian Defence Staff, provides the deployment of MNCG CIMIC Operators to carry out training and consultancy activities in favor of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) regarding border management. A new commitment for the Multinational CIMIC Group that is still committed, through the deployment of its operators, in seven different operational scenarios, from the Balkans to the Middle East, from Africa to the Mediterranean Basin.
The project, funded by the European Union, stems from a strong desire to provide support to the Lebanese authorities in border security and control, in increasing the security of its citizens, in promoting regional stability and in facilitating trade and development.
The International Centre for Migration Policy Development is an international organization, founded in 1993, with 18 member states. The ICMPD holds UN observer status and works with more than 580 partners, including EU institutions and UN agencies. It is active in more than 90 countries around the world and its goal is to create efficient cooperation and partnerships along migration routes. The agreement signed will therefore aim to contribute to improving such development in the cedar land, and more significantly, to contribute to the security and stability of border communities.
