Mountain training and orienteering for the CIMIC Battalion
Activities aimed at achieving and maintaining combat capabilities
Not only civil-military cooperation at Multinational CIMIC Group, but also intense days of combat training
for battalion personnel.
"It is essential to maintain and, where possible, to improve the level of soldiers’ professional preparation
through cyclical activities with increasing intensity and complexity." Battalion Commander recalled his men
the importance of being professionally prepared to face all the challenges that the Armed Forces have to face
and, more specifically, those assigned to the Multinational CIMIC Group.
Actually MNCG, the joint and multinational unit specializing in civil-military cooperation, is engaged in
eight Operational Theatres, from Afghanistan to Lebanon, from Kosovo to Somalia.
MNCG staff is also cyclically called in to intervene in Operation “Strade Sicure”, which have been in place
since 2008.
In order to be able to intervene with professionalism and efficiency, where required, the CIMIC operator and
the coadjutor, in addition to following the training process for the acquisitions of specific qualifications and
attributes, carry out continuous preparations that range in scope from C-IED training to CBRN training,
from shootings exercises to first aid courses. In this context, on Thursday 18 July 2019, soldiers’ battalion
were engaged in an orienteering activity, along a route of more than 10 km, receiving, along the route,
various kinds of activations related to exercises of recognition of means and materials, radio messaging
exercises, the estimation of distances with various methods and the treatment of the injured.
Despite the specificity of the Multinational CIMIC Group, military training and continuous updating are a
necessary condition not only to maintain the high individual standards expressed by the regiment but also to
cultivate the comrade spirit among soldiers.
