CUCC 2025 OPENS WITH STRATEGIC REMARKS FROM NATO LEADERSHIP

The 18th CIMIC Unit Commanders’ Conference (#CUCC2025) officially opened today in Venice with keynotes from Col. Piero Furlan, Commander of the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG), and Gen. Editson Zarka, ACOS J9 SHAPE.

“CIMIC is a mindset, not just a function,” said Col. Furlan, highlighting its role as a strategic enabler in hybrid environments.

Gen. Zarka emphasized the relevance of civil preparedness and resilience as essential capabilities for the Alliance’s future.

With over 110 participants from 21 countries, CUCC 2025 stands as the largest CIMIC event in NATO, fostering interoperability, innovation, and mutual understanding between military and civilian actors.

MNCG is leading the way on civil-military cooperation.
